1.         Job Function

The Cashier is responsible for collecting customer payments in accordance with company guidelines.  All activities must conform to organizational guidelines and standards and to all legal requirements.

2.         Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1.       Demonstrates service excellence according to set guidelines

2.       Checks money in ‘float pan’ at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change 

3.       Operates register according to set guidelines

4.       Customer Service: Responds to customers' questions and provides information; refers complaints 

5.       Bags or wraps merchandise for customers 

6.       Receives payment by cash, cheques, credit or debit card in accordance with set standards 

7.       Issues receipts and change due to customers 

8.       Computes and records totals of all transactions including phone card sales

9.       Merchandising: Prepares and maintains shelves for stock at retail sites 

10.   Refunds and credits in association with supervisor/manager 

11.   Calculates total payments received and reconciles with total sales report 

12.   Tallies and records Doctors’ fees and distributes accordingly 

13.   Performs other related duties as assigned

4.         Qualifications and Experience

·         5 CXC Level passes including Mathematics and English Language

·         Previous experience will be an asset

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Excel will be an asset

·         Good interpersonal skills

·         Able to work with little supervision
