                     IT OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION

1.         Job Function

The Information Technology Officer is responsible for the installation, modification, maintenance and minor repairs of computer hardware and software systems and providing technical assistance and training to system users.  All activities must conform to the guidelines and standards set by the organization and must be in accordance with information technology standards.


2.         Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1.    Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives

2.    Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer

3.    Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation

4.    Responds to staff inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software and operator problems

5.    Instructs users on use of equipment, software and manuals

6.    Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems

7.    Replaces defective or inadequate hardware and software packages

 

2.         Principal Duties and Responsibilities 


8.    Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction

9.    Responsible for securing company information and the integrity of data and IT equipment including data backups and restoration, anti-virus and firewall maintenance

10.  Performs related work as required by the appropriate Authority

 

3.         Personal Attributes

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·         Self-motivated.

·         Able to work independently or with little supervision.


4.         Qualifications and Experience

·         A+ Certification

·         Network + Certification

·         One (1) year experience in a similar position.

·         Experience in a Microsoft Windows environment with MS Active Directory, MS Exchange, TCP/IP networking

·         Database administration


5.         Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·         Very good troubleshooting skills

·         Very good analytical and problem-solving skills

·         Able to work under pressure
