is offering this vacancy notice on behalf of its client as follows:

The client is seeking to recruit Assertive, Dynamic individuals to fill the position of:

TEMPORARY LEGAL SECRETARY

– Dispute Resolution

JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent is required to provide general secretarial and administrative support to a Partner in the Dispute Resolution Department

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

- Bind relevant documents

- Dispatch deposit requisitions and tax invoices and follow up on payment upon approval of attorney

- Draft and finalize letters, email and memoranda as required

- Follow up and confirm with the Court Registry regarding dates of hearings

- Liaise with clients regarding instructions and queries

- Maintain up to date files and filing system. 

- Photocopy or scan various correspondence, documents and other printed matter

- Receive and distribute incoming mail and other material

- Receive and place telephone calls, take and relay messages.   

- Review and proof-read outgoing documents and correspondence to ensure correct grammar and compliance with legal procedures

- Mail, email, fax or arrange for delivery of legal correspondence to clients, witnesses and court officials

- Prepare and dispatch briefs for Counsel

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

A recognized secretarial certification or acceptable equivalent

- At least 5 CXC General passes (including English Language) or equivalent

years’ experience in a similar position

- Computer literacy and training in the use of Microsoft Word

- Training in typing and note-taking

 

 

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Knowledge of legal documents and court procedures

- Knowledge of secretarial functions and administrative procedures e.g. word processing & records management

- Advanced typing and note-taking skills
