Accounting Assistant

The client is seeking to recruit Assertive, Dynamic individuals to fill the position of:



The Accounting Assistant will report directly to the Financial Controller and will be responsible for assisting in the management and maintenance of the accounts of the parent company, as well as, provide support where necessary for its subsidiary company.

Core Functions:

- Daily receipting, balancing and depositing of company funds

- Assist with generating monthly intercompany billings

- Data entry of company’s receipts, invoices, cheques and journals into the Peachtree accounting system

- Bank Reconciliations for the client, ensuring that it is completed in a timely manner (should not be outstanding for more than one month)

- Ensure proper follow ups are done on outstanding items on the reconciliations to have it subsequently removed from the reconciliation by the following month

- Reconciliation of ocean freight consolidation reports on the Peachtree accounting system

- Maintenance of various Accounts Receivables and General Ledger accounts, and providing information for journal entries

- Assist with bi-monthly VAT reconciliation

- Assist with filing

Minimum Requirements

- Level 1 ACCA, completion of CAT or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent

- Minimum 2-4 years accounting experience preferably in a service-based industry

- Working knowledge of Peachtree or a similar accounting software will be an asset


Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Possess strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word

- Ability to maintain confidential information and records

- Have strong written and verbal communication skills

- Strong investigative and problem resolution skills

- Embrace a high level of integrity, be a smart, energetic, self-motivated professional with a positive attitude and one who takes great pride in one’s work
